Surat, October 2, 2013 – On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, VR Surat, an integrated community-oriented premium Lifestyle Shopping Center in association with `Life Cycling Green Group` has united the city’s youth for a common cause. Nationally acclaimed theatre personality Mr. Yazdi N. Karanjia, VR Surat’s Cultural Ambassador flagged off a group of 144 youngsters who cycled down from VR Surat to the end of Dumas Road, emphasizing the message given by India’s Father of The Nation - “Be the change you want see in the World”.  Mr. M. K. Das, Surat Municipal Commissioner addressed the rally of these volunteers at Dumas Beach.
An experiential zone was created at VR Surat in “Dumas Square” by installing a large size Charkha, with volunteers spinning the charkha as a part of demonstration. In addition, commemorative inscriptions of Gandhiji's quotes were displayed along with life size mascot and cut-outs of Mahatma Gandhi in the ‘Center Court’ area.

VR Surat also created a special zone at the centre to celebrate “Joy of Giving” where a large number of citizens participated wholeheartedly in donating for the poor - clothes, stationery, paper and other usable items. These items will be donated further to the underprivileged sections of society in Surat.

Mr. Paresh Mishra, Director Operations (West), Virtuous Retail, said, “Surat has historical connection with Gandhiji’s famous Dandi March supported by the people here for the great national cause. VR Surat is pleased to be part of a social campaign on this Gandhi Jayanti that reinforces Mahatma’s teachings and way of life. VR Surat has emerged as a major destination for youth and community centric cultural activities and campaigns. With Gujarat’s favourite festive season around the corner, we welcome all the Surtis to this unique platform.”
