PC Jeweller and Shabana Azmi’s Mijwan Welfare Society come together for Women Empowerment

The leading jewellery brand PC Jeweller and veteran actor and social activist Shabana Azmi today presented a star studded fashion show for her NGO Mijwan Welfare Society (MWS) at Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. The show was put together for the empowerment of women in rural India with the theme ‘The man cares for the woman’.


PC Jeweller, which was the presenting partner for the show, actively works towards social causes that involve issues relating to women and children. Many leading actors and celebrities came forward to support the noble cause. The event ‘Men for Mijwan - by Manish Malhotra’ saw some elaborate chikan work done by Mijwan girls. Donning the beautiful chikankari work, veteran actor and legend, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan walked the ramp along with leading bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Ranbir Kapoor and Siddhartha Malhotra.

PCJ’s Managing Director, Mr. Balram Garg said, “Today we are coming across many concerns relating to women in our society, especially in the rural areas. It is the immediate need of  hour to take strong steps to change the condition of the women in rural parts. To ensure that a big change is incorporated, it is crucial that men should come forward in their support. We understand this and therefore have come forward with MWS to work towards the betterment of women in our country. It is a proud moment for us to associate for a noble cause like this. We appreciate the initiatives that Shabana ji and MWS have undertaken and the changes they have been able to bring in the lives of these girls and boosted their confidence. It is also a pleasure to see so many celebrities and legends extending support. We hope that the conditions will change gradually for this section.”


PC Jeweller, which is an established jewellery brand in the country, has associated with many social and charitable events earlier also in a gesture to extend their support to the society in different ways hoping for strengthening and upliftment of the weaker sections.

MWS has been actively working for the women in Mijwan and their initiatives have been successful in bringing change in their lives. As of today, they have 10 embroidery centres in UP where different embroidery arts are taught.

For the Fashion Show, 25 models walked the ramp alongside the Bollywood stars. The event was attended by many eminent personalities, celebrities and socialites of Mumbai.
