Parwaaz launches `Love your Environment…Go Green Campaign’ to create awareness for a Green Future among the youth


Mumbai/Thane: February 8, 2013: As the country’s youth are busy preparing for the upcoming Valentine’s Day on February 14, Thane-based Parwaaz Multifoundation (a not-for-profit NGO) has launched a unique social media campaign `Love your Environment…Gift a Tree to your loved ones on Valentine’s Day’ to create awareness about a Green Future among young people.  There is an alarming amount of carbon produced by individuals, public and private sector organizations, and offsetting that carbon footprint by planting trees, supporting renewable energy, buying carbon credits, and practicing other energy conservation strategies even at an individual level can make a huge difference to climate change. We should all respond to the climate change challenge by going carbon neutral.


Commenting on the initiative Aryan Rana, Chief Operating officer, Parwaaz Multifoundation, said: “Global warming and climate change is a serious problem, caused primarily by the carbon dioxide released from burning fossil fuels like oil, coal, and gas. There are things we can do about it — like choosing to go carbon-neutral and we must work to decrease carbon emissions at all levels-----national, local and individual, especially at our own level. As a part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, Parwaaz wants to demonstrate that taking responsibility for one's greenhouse gas emissions is a straightforward and inexpensive effort. Parwaaz's resolve is to encourage individuals to do at least their minimum for the environment and society.

Explaining how one can make his or her contribution, Rana says “Going carbon-neutral is an easy way to take individual responsibility for the greenhouse gas emissions we create every time we drive our cars, travel in a plane, or switch on our computers. It is based on the principle that, since climate change is a global problem, an emission reduction made elsewhere has the same positive effect as one made locally.”

“At the national level, we must develop a clean, renewable energy plan for India through the Energy Futures-focused projects. At the local level, we need to encourage friendly competition to see which regions can adopt the best climate policies through various campaigns. For individuals, we must offer resources on how to go carbon-neutral at home and at work” Mr Rana added

Shri Vikas Joshi, President, Parwaaz added “One’s individual actions do make a difference, even to big, serious problems like climate change. But sometimes knowing where to start can be challenging. Parwaaz is committed to make it easy for the our citizens. The Parwaaz team will help find some of the most effective ways to reduce climate impact. One may start with just one or two, or try to do as many as one can!”

Go Green in your commuting
Transportation causes about 25-30 per cent of India’s greenhouse gas emissions, so walk, and cycle or take transit whenever you can.  You’ll save money and get into better shape! If you can’t go car-free, try car-pooling or car-sharing, and use the smallest, most fuel-efficient vehicle possible.
Be energy efficient
If you already switch off lights—what’s next? Change light bulbs to compact fluorescents or LEDs.  Unplug computers, TVs and other electronics when not in use. Wash clothes in cold or warm (not hot) water. Dryers are energy hogs, so hang dry when you can. Install a programmable thermostat. Look for the Energy Star® label when buying new appliances.
Trim your waste
Garbage buried in landfills produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Keep stuff out of landfills by composting kitchen scraps and garden trimmings, and recycling paper, plastic, metal and glass.  Let store managers and manufacturers know you want products with minimal or recyclable packaging
Fly less
Air travel leaves behind a huge carbon footprint. Before you book your next airline ticket, consider greener options such as buses or trains, or try vacationing closer to home. You can also stay in touch with people by video-conferencing, which saves time as well as travel and accommodation costs.
Get involved
Take a few minutes to contact your political representatives and the media to tell them you want immediate action on climate change.  Remind them that reducing greenhouse gas emissions will also build healthier communities, spur economic innovation and create new jobs. And the next time you’re at the polling booth, vote for politicians who support effective climate policies.
Eat wisely
Buy organic and locally grown foods. Avoid processed items. Grow some of your own food. And eat low on the food chain—at least one meat-free meal a day—since 18 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions come from meat and dairy production.
Let polluters pay
Carbon taxes make polluting activities more expensive and green solutions more affordable, allowing energy-efficient businesses and households to save money. They are one of the most effective ways to reduce India’s climate impact. If your region doesn’t have a carbon tax, ask your MP and MLA to implement one.

Parwaaz is a not-for-profit NGO, based in Thane, near Mumbai, Maharashtra. Parwaaz was founded on November 25, 2009, by a group of like-minded friends who wanted to contribute to humanity with the broad vision of `A GREEN FUTURE… A SAFE Future’

Under Green Future projects Parwaaz creates awareness and encourages the habit of saving environment at individual level.

Under Humanitarian Mission of Saving  Life and Serving Society, the Parwaaz team came up with an Idea and named it as “ROSHANDAAN- Taaki Lau Jalti Rahe” with the objective of keeping FLAME of social service burning bright. Under Humanitarian Mission Parwaaz has recently launched a new initiative “JEEVANDAAN” to help the people who are economically weak and need urgent financial support during times such as critical illnesses, etc…Parwaaz provides help to such people by collecting funds from its committed members, friends, colleagues, employers, neighbours’, etc…

The simple but difficult concept behind the idea of Parwaaz's young team is based on the principle of “No more passing the Buck.....Buck Stops with Me for BEING a RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN”.  


Projects and Campaigns


On January 17, 2010 The Parwaaz team launched a public awareness campaign “Aao Bhavishya Bachayen”  to make people aware and encourage them to save water, energy and keep their surroundings neat & clean. The team organized a stage show on Green Future, which gave the young team a decent and encouraging beginning.

In addition to this, Parwaaz team also felt a need to make contributions for economically weaker sections of society, who often suffer because of unavailability of timely support. In June 2010 Parwaaz initiated “Shahapur Shikshan Abhiyaan” and supported students from underprivileged sections by donating books, pens, pencils and cash.

In July 2010 Pawaaz organized an art competition event “Chitrakala Spardha” for small children. The subject was “Environment” and children in the 5-14 age groups made paintings to teach environment to the world.

In 2011 and 2012 Prawaaz team took up several projects like Lokpal Awareness (initiative was taken to educate and make people aware of  the differences between Team Anna  & Govt bill), Tree Plantation, Ek Paaul Majya Udyanasathi, World Environment Day " Global Warming and Climate Change" awareness campaigns among others. 


Future Plans 


The buoyant response from supporters has encouraged Parwaaz to undertake more projects such as "Aao Bharat Banayen" and in the areas of health, free education and environment protection

Parwaaz aims to become a pan-India NGO with committed band of volunteers who will spearhead environment-protection initiatives highlighting the critical need for protecting the environment. Parwaaz mission is to also support economically weaker sections of society, who often suffer because of unavailability of timely support. Parwaaz seeks to create a network and community of committed donors spread across the country who can alleviate the suffering of weaker sections by providing timely support. To help as many as is humanly possible and without discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, creed, race, gender, etc.

ICE Make Reports 21.31% jump in consolidated revenue for Q2 FY2025
