Mumbai, February 28, 2014:  The All India Gems and Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF), the national trade body for the promotion and growth of trade in Gems and Jewellery Industry across India, presented 32 National Jewellery Awards (NJA 2014), the most prestigious awards in the gems & jewellery (G&J) industry to recognize the immense talent, innovation and creativity of its valued members and associates. Presented by International Gemological Institute, NJA 2014 by GJF is an industry’s recognition from the industry, by the industry, to the industry!


The winners from Mumbai are as follows: Best Platinum Jewellery Design Of The Year - Uni-Design Jewellery Pvt. Ltd.; Best C Z Jewellery Design Of The Year -Dm3 Gems Pvt. Ltd.; Unique Jewellery Design Of The Year -Anmol Jewellers; Paramparik Jewellery Of The Year (West)     - H.K Jewels Pvt. Ltd.; and Best Diamond Jewellery Of The Year- Bridal    - Tikamdas Motiram Jewellers Pvt. Ltd.


GJF honoured students from renowned institutes such as IIGJ (Delhi & Jaipur), Sawansukha institute (Kolkata), IGI (Mumbai), Solitaire Diamond Institute (Bangalore) and NIFT (Gandhinagar & Bangalore) with scholarships worth Rs. 15 lakh. The name of the winners are as follows: Neha Verma (IIGJ, Delhi), Nidhi Agarwal (IIGJ, Jaipur), Prity Agarwal (Sawansukha Institute, Kolkata), Vishal Karel (Sawansukha Institute, Kolkata), Madhura Bhogale (IGI, Mumbai), Manasi Akre (NIFT, Gandhinagar), Niyati Mendapara (NIFT, Gandhinagar), Arpita Gujar (Solitaire Diamond institute,               Bangalore), Vasundhra Gaur (NIFT, Bangalore) and Ayushi Patni (NIFT, Bangalore).


Under the life time achievement category there were two awards: Anmol Ratna Award to Mr. Arun Kaigaokar of Chintamani's and also various associations in Maharashtra - Girgaon jewellers Association, Suburban Jewellers Association, Maharashtra Rajya Saraf Suvarnakar Federation & Mumbai Gold Club; and Yuva Ratna Award to Mr. Mohit Kamboj of India Bullion and Jewellers Association and KBJ Group.


Addressing the Awards Ceremony in Mumbai, Mr. Haresh Soni, Chairman, GJF, said, “We are happy many national and regional players won the NJA 2014 Awards, which honour the innovation, creativity of the people engaged in the industry. The NJA recognise & support the inspiration, passion, devotion and motivation for the industry. It is endeavor that goes in encouraging & enhancing innovation, creating masterpieces and setting new benchmarks in achieving business growth in the G&J industry.” “NJA 2014 is a stellar example of GJF´s unbiased and relentless efforts for the welfare of gems and jewellery industry, which has won it accolades and an unquestionable credibility for being fair, supportive and appreciative towards the industry. The trust and faith of its members, industry and government have undoubtedly contributed to this non-profit organization's growth in the sector and established NJA Awards as the most prestigious & coveted in the industry,” Mr. Soni added.


Titan, Malabar, Anmol, Abaran, Chintamanis & PC Chandra were amongst winners. Regional jewellery firms also shone: Shree Raj Mahal Jewellers Ltd. (New Delhi) won 3 awards; Hariprasad Gopi Krishna Saraf Pvt. Ltd. (Gorakhpur) & Hazoorilal & Sons Jewellers Pvt Ltd. (New Delhi) won 2 awards each.

Ltd., New Delhi; Best Diamond Jewellery of The Year-In Vogue -         Shree Raj Mahal Jewellers Ltd.,     New Delhi; Best Diamond Jewellery Design Of The Year - Jewels Emporium, Jaipur; Paramparik Jewellery Of The Year-North      - Hariprasad Gopi Krishna Saraf Pvt. Ltd., Gorakhpur; and Best Gold Jewellery Of The Year- Bridal - Hariprasad Gopi Krishna Saraf Pvt. Ltd., Gorakhpur.

The winners from South India were as follows: Best Print Advertising Campaign of The Year - Abaran Timeless Jewellers P. Ltd., Bangalore; Best Jadau Jewellery Design of The Year               - Navrathan Jewellers Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore; Best Colored Stone Jewellery of The Year -     Titan Industries Ltd., Bangalore; Best Single Store of The Year - South     Shree Jewellers Eximp Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad; Paramparik Jewellery Of The Year-South      Krsala Jewels Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad; and Best Retal Chain of The Year -Malabar Gold Pvt. Ltd., Calicut.

The winners from East/ Central India were as follows: Paramparik Jewellery of The Year - Central-East- Sawansukha Jewellers Pvt. Ltd.,          Kolkata; Best Gold Jewellery Design Of The Year - P.C. Chandra & Sons Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata; Best Single Store Of The Year - Central East -              Manikchand & Sons,  Guwahati; Best Unique And Innovative Promotion Of The Year       - L Gopal And Sons & Sumeet Gems & Jewellers, Guwahati & Raipur.

This year GJF ‘Gem of the year’ trophy was awarded to: North India - Mr. Mahesh Jain of Panna Lal Mahesh Chandra Jewellers of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh and UP Sarafa Association; Central & East India - Mr. Samar Kumar De of Swarna Shilpa Bachao Committee (SSBC) and Bowbazar Jewellery Association; West India - Mr. Shantibhai Patel President, Gem & Jewellery Trade Council of India (GJTCI) and Jewellers Association, Ahmedabad; also the proprietor of Jaykrishna Jewellers; and South India - Mr. P. V. Jose President, Jewellery Manufacturers Association (JMA) for their contribution to growth of the Gold and Jewellery industry.

It represents over 6,00,000 players comprising manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, distributors, laboratories, gemologists, designers and allied services to the domestic Gems & Jewellery industry. The Gems & Jewellery industry is a hand crafted and labour intensive with over 1 crore strong labour force engaged in the manufacturing of jewellery industry in the domestic sector. The industry size is estimated to be in the region of Rs. 4,00,000 crore. The Federation’s mission is to support and promote the progress and prosperity of all the members in the gems and jewellery industry across India. It also provides regular news updated on notifications, rules and regulations declared by the Government. It promotes the trade, by participating in promotional events on a national level. It encourages the trade through the organization of consumer exhibits in India. It also counsels educational and research institutes that help in developing superior quality and high standards for effective functioning of the trade.
